Late January trials are also set for two Elkhart residents charged with an October robbery spree that started in South Bend and ended in Niles.
Marc Antony Fritz, 30, and Kelly Scroggins, 33, were bound over for trial after preliminary hearings this week. Their trial dates are set for Jan. 23-25 with case conferences Dec. 12 and status conferences Jan. 16.
Fritz is charged with unarmed robbery, possession of a weapon/ammunition by a felon, possession of meth and possession of marijuana. Scroggins is charged with unarmed robbery, resisting and obstructing police, possession of meth and possession of marijuana.
The incident occurred Oct. 23 when Niles police were informed by Indiana police officers that an armed robbery had occurred north of South Bend near the state line and the vehicle had fled north. Shortly after, Niles police received a call about an unarmed robbery at Pete’s Marathon on South 11th Street.
Police were there within seconds and arrested Fritz and Scroggins.
