Deceased Name: Joe Stobaugh
JONESBORO — Mr. Joe Russell Stobaugh of Jonesboro departed this life on Thursday, May 12, 2016, at the age of 89. He was born Jan. 15, 1927, in Conway County, the son of James Monroe and Lucinda Scroggins Stobaugh.

Mr. Stobaugh worked 32 years for Arkansas Power and Light, retiring as manager in Harrisburg in 1988. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in World War II, and was a member of the Rotary Clubs of Harrisburg and Newport. Mr. Stobaugh was a member of the First Baptist Church of Newport, where he was honored to serve as a deacon.

He was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.

Mr. Stobaugh is survived by his wife of 69 years, Jean O'Brien Stobaugh of Jonesboro; one daughter, Joy Lynn McNeil (Randy) of Jonesboro; one son, Russell Brien Stobaugh (Janell) of Plano, Texas; five grandchildren, Meredith McNeil Causey (Chad) of Little Rock, Joseph McNeil (Ashley Cummings) of Jonesboro, and Taylor Stobaugh, Tanner Stobaugh and Trent Stobaugh, all of Plano, Texas; one great-grandchild, Claire Causey of Little Rock; several nieces and nephews; and a lifetime of friends.

Friends may visit at the funeral home beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday. Funeral services will follow at Jackson's Newport Funeral Home Chapel at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Marvin Reynolds officiating. Interment will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Joseph McNeil, Taylor Stobaugh, Tanner Stobaugh, Trent Stobaugh, Chad Causey and Jimmy Newman.

The Stobaugh Family request memorials be made to First Baptist Church, 217 Main St., Newport 72112.

John M. Born, age 65, of Middleton, passed away suddenly of a heart attack on Saturday, May 7, 2016, at his home in Middleton. John was born on Aug. 8, 1950, in Sheboygan, the son of Leona and Milford "Micky" Born. John married Frayne Boyce on Oct. 30, 1993, in Middleton. The 'Living Legend" has now become The Legend.

John graduated from Sheboygan South High School in 1969. He then moved to Madison where he met his first wife, Rose (Staver). They had two children, Albert and Melissa. John obtained his degree in Culinary Arts in 1971 from Madison Area Technical College, and proceeded to manage the cafeteria at Cuna Mutual Insurance Group for 24 years. He then managed Pleasant View Golf Course for Cuna Mutual Group, and later for the City of Middleton. John then worked briefly in sales and soon thereafter served as Manager of the Shuttle Craft Pilot Division at Russ Darrow Group.

John is survived by his wife, Frayne; sister, Mary Lytle; stepmother, Dorothy Scroggins ; son and daughter-in-law, Albert and Brenda Born; daughter and son-in-law, Melissa and Tim Hall; stepson, Graham Gehin; and grandchildren, Devin Hall and Zeva, Apollo and Dane Born. He is also survived by sister-in-law and husband, Tracey Boyce and Guy Meyer, numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. John was preceded in death by his parents, Leona and Milford "Micky" Born; stepfather, Robert Scroggins ; and father and mother-in-law, George and Jane Boyce.

Visitation will be on Saturday, May 14, 2016, from 9 a.m. to 12 noon with service immediately following at GUNDERSON FUNERAL HOME, 7435 University Ave., Middleton. Everyone is encouraged to wear Hawaiian shirts and baseball caps on this special day in celebration of the Legendary Life of John M Born.

BLOOMINGTON — Jewell Jean (Goodman) Hawkins, 91, passed away May 8, 2016, at her home after a battle with cancer.

Jewell was born June 16, 1924, to Carl and Litha (Sanders) Goodman. Jewell grew up in the Smithville area. She was the only one of six children to graduate from high school. She was part of the senior class of Smithville High School in 1942.

Jewell married Edward Hawkins upon his return from Germany while serving in World War II, on March 20, 1953. They were married for 53 years until his passing on July 27, 2006.

Jewell worked at Sarkes Tarzian and RCA and retired from A&P Grocery but continued to work at Indiana University. After retiring from IU, she went on to become House Mom at IU's fraternity and sorority houses.

Jewell is survived by her son, Norman Doty and his wife, Sheila; her daughters, Wanda Algood and Paula Boltinghouse and her husband, Steve; granddaughters, Sherry Phillips and her husband, Tom, and Stacey Doty; grandsons, Ronnie Scroggins , Terry Scroggins and his wife, Angel, Bart Scroggins , Devin Doty and Robert Boltinghouse and his wife, Aleta. Jewell has 20 great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren, one brother, Harold Goodman, and her dear friend and caregiver for the past five years, Cris Roberts.

Jewell was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edward; sister, Goldie Lowery; and brothers, Burl, Ralph and Joe Wayne Goodman.

Jewell was a member of Paynetown Pentecostal Church.

Jewell loved to be outdoors mushroom hunting, raking leaves, pulling weeds and picking greens. She loved to make quilts, all kinds of crafts, read and do word search puzzles. In later years she loved to feed and watch the birds and squirrels. She was quite an adventurer. She took a hot air balloon ride at age 75 and her first helicopter ride at age 90.

Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 11, 2016. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of service at Paynetown Pentecostal Church, 4842 S. Harrell Road, Bloomington. Pastor Cheryl Crum will conduct the service. Burial will follow at Valhalla Memory Gardens.

Memorial contributions may be given to Paynetown Pentecostal Church.

Jerry T. Glover, 74 of Monroe died at 10:30 pm Monday at the Ebeid Hospice of Sylvania, Ohio. He had been in poor health since December.

Family and Friends may call from 2 to 8 pm Sunday at the Rupp Funeral Home. He will lie in state 9 am Monday at St. Michael the Archangel Church with the Mass of the Resurrection at 10 am. Rev Philip Ching, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park with military honors by VFW Post 1138 Monroe.

Born February 22, 1942 in Ypsilanti, Michigan he was the son of George T. and Christine (Rogers) Glover. He married Karen A. Meyer on January 21, 1967 in Carleton, Michigan.

Jerry was employed by Eastern Airlines in ramp service for twenty years and then at the University of Michigan undergraduate library for twelve years.

He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from August 8, 1960 to January 22,1964.

Jerry was a 1960 graduate of Willow Run High School and attended Washtenaw Community College. He was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Church and the Knights of Columbus 8698 Dundee, Michigan.. He enjoyed bowling and bowled in several leagues at Nortel Lanes and the Monroe Sport Center.

Surviving are his wife Karen; son Jason A ( Jennifer Scroggins ) Glover of Ann Arbor and a sister Phyllis Tweedy of Grass Lake.

He was preceded in death his parents and brother-in-law Leon Tweedy.

Memorials may be made to St. Michael Church or the Ronald McDonald House Toledo.
