"We’re from England, and this is all new to us," she said. Scroggins struggled with the decision to keep her sons out of school for the rally. "They’ve already had two days off because they’ve had two snow days," she said. "This is a chance of a lifetime, so why not?"

Roy Lonzo Jenkins, 90, of Liberal, passed away Tuesday January 26, 2016 at the Liberal Good Samaritan Center. He was born on May 25, 1925 to Frank [34748] and Dora [34747] (Scroggins) Jenkins at Pawhuska, OK. On December 21, 1946 he married Dessie Augerot at Sublette, KS. She preceded him in death on December 12, 2014. Roy grew up in Pawhuska, OK later moving to Hoisington, KS. He enlisted into the US Navy in 1943 where he served on board a ship in the Asiatic and Pacific campaign. Upon leaving the Navy in 1946 he moved to Satanta, KS to work in the oilfield and met his soon to be wife. Roy and Dessie would travel to many different job locations in their Air Stream Mobile Home. In 1963 Roy and Dessie settled in Liberal, KS where he went to work with Bomin Testing Co. Roy worked with many different Oilfield companies until he purchased J&R Roustabout Services from his partner, from which he later retired. He was a member of the American Legion Post # and a past member of the Liberal Elks Lodge. He is survived by two daughters- Teresa Jenkins Stevens of Liberal, KS, Sunny Ely Jenkins of Los Banos, CA; two sons- James Jenkins of Tulsa, OK, Ronnie Jenkins of Wichita, KS; two granddaughters- Jami M. Jenkins, Sharina Jenkins; two great granddaughters- Addie Jenkins and MacKenzie Allen, half-brother- Fred Jenkins of Shawnee, OK., half-sister- Catherine Cain of Pocasset, OK and several nieces & nephews. He was also preceded in death by his parents, son- Kenneth D. Jenkins, two grandsons, three brothers and 2 sisters. Memorial Services will be held at a later date and will be announced. There will be no viewing as cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers the family suggests Memorials to the Liberal Good Samaritan Pond Fund.
